Title

Mail Online changes photo caption from “tube bomber” to “bombing suspect” after we pointed out that the person had not been charged formally.

Date

19 Sept 2017

The Mail Online posted a photo of the arrest of Yahya Faroukh, who was arrested after the Palmers Green tube bombing.  Initially the photo caption referred to Faroukh as “tube bomber,” despite the fact that no formal charges had been laid at the time.  We pointed this out and it was changed to “bombing suspect.”

Faroukh was later released without charge, and another man has been found guilty of the attack.

Conclusion

Corrected
